Gilbert Paper Company: Darkhouse Spearing: A Journey to the Interior
Part of a series on American subcultures, this piece documents the annual Sturgeon hunt on Lake Winnebago, Wisconsin. Local imagery and hand-crafted equipment all help tell this tactile story (tactile, uncoated paper). The piece’s horizontal format references the Sturgeon’s length and floppiness. An image of cracked ice was printed over the cover in clear plastic Thermography which actually frosted with time. A main point in the text: “In the end, it's not about the catch, but the preparation and the wait.”
